Poll Greeting (Friday 11/03, Saturday 11/04, Tuesday 11/07)

Poll greeters during the last few days of absentee in person voting and on Election Day are critical to ensure that voters have the information that they need to elect Democrats.  By law, local candidates are not identified on the ballot by Party affiliation, which is why the blue Democratic sample ballots distributed by poll greeters are so critical.  Here is the schedule for poll greeting in Arlington:

Farmers  Markets (Saturday 11/04 & Sunday 11/05)

Although the Arlington Democrats regularly have a booth at local farmers markets, we are making a special push for GOTV Weekend to ensure that we have multiple volunteers at these booths ready to engage voters!  In particular, we will have a booth at the Courthouse farmers market on Saturday 11/04 and booths at the Fairlington, Columbia Pike, and Westover farmers markets on Sunday 11/05.  We will hand out election information and remind shoppers to vote. View details and sign up.

First Fridays – Groovin’ On the Pike: Flyering to Promote Election (Friday 11/03)

The Arlington Democrats will have a presence outside of the Columbia Pike Branch Library during the First Fridays – Groovin’ On the Pike dance party featuring Caz Gardiner on Friday 11/03 from 7 pm until 9 pm.  Over 150 people attended the last “First Friday” event, so we are hopeful that this will be a great visibility opportunity in Arlington’s only contested House of Delegates district! We will hand out election information and remind dancers to vote!  View details and sign up.

Clarendon Bar Crawl: Flyering to Promote Election (Saturday 11/04)

The Arlington Democrats will have a presence outside of the registration area at the Clarendon Halloween Bar Crawl, taking place on Saturday 11/04 from 12:30 pm until 4:30 pm.  We will hand out election information while wearing fun Democratic costumes!  View details and sign up.

GOTV Rally!

Volunteers of all ages are invited to a special GOTV rally, hosted by the Arlington Young Democrats, at 5:30 pm on Saturday 11/04!  Featuring special guest Senator Mark Warner, this rally will kickoff a fun canvass launching from 3506 North Nottingham Street.  RSVP here!

Polling Place Decoration / Campaign Sign Placement at Polling Locations (Monday 11/06)

The Arlington Democrats will place campaign signs at all 54 polling locations in Arlington on the evening of Monday 11/06, so that they are in place for the start of Election Day. We will meet at 8:30 pm at 1501 S Pollard St., and then fan out to the polling locations around the county.  Click here to sign-up for this activity.

Poll Observing/Voter Protection (Tuesday 11/07)

The Democratic Party of Virginia will have poll observers at key polling locations to provide voter protection.  A poll observer watches over the process employed by election officials and alerts the Party to emerging problems at a polling location.  Lawyers and paralegals often enjoy this opportunity, but it is available to all.  Poll observers are expected to attend a two-hour training (schedule TBD) and to review the voting rights manual in advance of Election Day (Tuesday 11/07).  Click here to sign-up.

Election Results Watch Party!

After your last volunteer shift, come watch the election results in style! Located in the heart of Arlington’s only contested House of Delegates district, this watch party has it all: food/drink specials, candidate appearances, and Democratic camaraderie! Come cheer on our candidates and raise a glass in honor of the tremendous volunteerism that has fueled the 2017 campaign!  The fun begins at 6:30 pm at The Salsa Room (2619 Columbia Pike). RSVP here.
