Arlington Democrats Endorse Sally Baird for School Board

Arlington, VA – The Arlington County Democratic Committee enthusiastically endorses Sally Baird for reelection to the Arlington School Board. “We are proud to have School Board Chair Sally Baird running again as our Democratic endorsee for the School Board,” said ACDC Chair Mike Lieberman. “In her four years on the Board, Sally has been a tireless voice for Arlington's students on overcrowding, revenue sharing, and ensuring we have the best and brightest teachers and administrators in Arlington’s schools. Every Arlingtonian should be excited about the prospect of four more years under Sally's leadership.” First elected to the School Board in 2006, Ms. Baird was the only candidate to file to run for the seat by the 5:00 pm March 8 filing deadline. As a result, the party will cancel its May School Board caucus and focus its efforts on a general-election victory. Under party rules, the endorsement will be formally affirmed at the party’s next general membership meeting on April 7. Sally Baird issued the following statement: “I am grateful for the support of my friends in the ACDC community, both during my first term on the School Board and in my bid for re-election. With this election comes the chance to discuss the schools issues which are so critical to the ongoing vibrancy of our Arlington community.
