Resolution Commending the Registrar

Whereas, in the November 2008 general election, Arlington County cast a record 110,153 votes representing 76% of active voters, and

Whereas, Arlington County cast an unprecedented 34,110 absentee votes by mail or in person, and

Whereas, 5,500 new voters registered in Arlington just in the week before the cutoff, and

Whereas, the election presented the additional challenges arising from the first use of new voter machine technology and electronic poll books, and

Whereas, the Registrar of Voters Linda Lindberg and her staff handled this high voter turnout with grace and efficiency.

Therefore, be it resolved, that on December 3, 2008, the Arlington County Democratic Committee joins all Arlingtonians in commending the Registrar of Voters and her staff for an outstanding job well done.
