CALL FOR A DEMOCRATIC MASS MEETING TO ENDORSE A CANDIDATE FOR THE ARLINGTON COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD

School Board Candidate Declaration / Letter of Intent

November 7, 2007

The Arlington County Democratic Committee (ACDC) hereby calls an unassembled caucus (“firehouse primary”) on Thursday, May 1, 2008, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Thomas Jefferson Middle School (125 S. Old Glebe Road, Arlington, VA 22204), and on Saturday, May 3, 2008, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the cafeteria of Washington-Lee High School (entrance off the 1300 block of North Stafford Street) for the purpose of endorsing two candidates for the Arlington County School Board.

Any registered Arlington voter who is a Democrat and believes in the principles of the Democratic Party, and who does not intend to support any candidate who is opposed to a Democratic Party nominee or endorsee in the next ensuing election, is eligible to participate in the unassembled caucus.

No individual shall be eligible for endorsement by the participants of the unassembled caucus whose name has not been filed with the Chairperson of the ACDC, Peter Rousselot, at ACDC Headquarters, 2009 14^th Street N, Suite 612, Arlington, VA 22201, by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, March 3, 2008. If fewer than three persons file before the deadline, no caucus shall be held. In order to certify the eligibility of a candidate for endorsement, the Chairperson shall ascertain that he or she:

Meets the legal requirements for eligibility for the office of Arlington County School Board Member; and

Is a resident of and registered to vote in Arlington County, Virginia; is a Democrat and believes in the principles of the Democratic Party; and does not intend to support, endorse, or assist any candidate who is opposed to a Democratic nominee or endorsee in the next ensuing election.

A nonrefundable filing fee payable to “ACDC” of $390.00, which is equal to two percent (2%) of the annual salary of a member of the Arlington County School Board, must accompany all candidate filings.
