Arlington County Democratic Committee Elects New Officers

Arlington, VA – Earlier this evening, the Arlington County Democratic Committee (ACDC) elected its officers for the 2010-2011 term.  The Committee elected Mike Lieberman, 30, the Committee’s youngest Chair in nearly thirty years, to be its new Chair, and it elected Maureen Markham as Deputy Chair.  A complete list of elected officers follows below.

An accomplished party activist, Lieberman has held numerous positions in the party including: Finance Director, President of the Arlington Young Democrats, and precinct captain.  He has also served as Campaign Manager for Walter Tejada for County Board (2007) and for Larry Fishtahler for School Board (2003).  He and his wife Dara live in the Arlington Forest neighborhood of Arlington. 

“The Arlington County Democratic Committee represents the gold standard in Democratic organizing, but we must always strive to be better,” Lieberman said. “Success in Arlington starts with a personal connection to our voters.  I am committed to seeing our party and our people deepen that connection through personal engagement with the Arlington community and the Arlington electorate.”

Outgoing chair Peter Rousselot praised the new leadership in a statement: 

I am extraordinarily pleased that ACDC has chosen [Mike Lieberman] as its new Chair, and also chosen an outstanding group of other Arlington Democrats to fill its other elected leadership positions.  During my four years as Chair, I worked very hard to encourage and nurture a 'strong bench' of leaders who would be ready to step in and take over ACDC's leadership.  The elections tonight illustrate the depth of our pool of talented leaders.  I have highlighted the major accomplishments of my own term as ACDC Chair in my final column of the Voice, our ACDC newsletter, at http://arlingtondemocrats.org/ht/a/GetDocumentAction/i/1286212.
