Arlington Democrats Condemn Dark Money in Redistricting Race

The Arlington Democrats thoroughly condemn the influx of dark-money driven lies, misinformation, and misleading imagery meant to convince Virginians to vote against the April 21 redistricting referendum.

In a letter to the editor in ARLnow, the Arlington Democrats have made our position clear.

"Democrats, including President Obama and Governor Spanberger, have publicly endorsed a 'Yes' vote on April 21. The mailers, sponsored by Peter Thiel and far-right operatives, rely on outdated, out-of-context, or selectively edited quotes to suggest otherwise. Civil rights leaders across Virginia, including the NAACP, have called these materials deliberate misinformation designed to confuse voters and suppress turnout...

...This referendum is about whether Virginia voters will have a voice in defending fair representation. That's why we urge a "Yes" vote and reject the outside dark money bankrolling this coordinated disinformation campaign."
