Arlington Democrats Celebrate Primary Victories and Unveil Full Democratic Ticket for the November General Election

ARLINGTON, Va. August 6, 2026 — The Arlington County Democratic Committee (“Arlington Democrats”) is proud to congratulate Congressman Don Beyer, the Democratic nominee for Virginia’s 8th Congressional District, and County Board Chair Matt de Ferranti, the Democratic nominee for Arlington County Board, following their victories in the Tuesday, August 4 Democratic primary election.

At its August meeting on Wednesday, the Committee also confirmed Interim Treasurer Kim Rucker as the Democratic nominee for the November 3 special election for Arlington County Treasurer. Rucker, the longtime Chief Deputy Treasurer, assumed office last month following the retirement of Carla de la Pava and was the only candidate to file for the party’s endorsement. 

“Arlington Democrats are proud to present voters with an outstanding Democratic ticket this November,” said Arlington Democrats Chair Paul Ruiz. “We congratulate our congressional and County Board nominees on their primary victories and are thrilled to welcome Kim Rucker to the Democratic ticket. Each brings the experience, integrity and commitment to public service needed to deliver for Arlington and communities across Virginia’s 8th District.”

The three nominees join Senator Mark Warner, who is seeking reelection to the United States Senate, and School Board Member Bethany Zecher Sutton, whom Arlington Democrats previously endorsed for reelection to the Arlington School Board, on the Democratic ticket for the November 3 general election.

The Committee has also endorsed all three proposed Virginia constitutional amendments that will appear on the ballot this November. The three amendments would protect reproductive freedom, repeal the state constitution’s ban on same-sex marriage, and automatically restore voting rights to formerly incarcerated people upon completion of their sentences.

“With a strong Democratic ticket and fundamental rights on the ballot, Arlington Democrats are united, energized and ready to organize for victory this November,” Ruiz said. “We will spend the fall reaching out to voters, earning their support and making the case for Democratic leadership at every level.”
